Shelter is a universal constant in fiction. No matter the world or the creature, there is always a need for protection from the elements. Inspired by this idea, I created a series exploring imaginative forms of housing across fantastical environments. Each concept reinterprets what a “home” can be within different magical and environmental conditions.

1. The Hidden Witch’s House

   This smaller dwelling sits within a pond, yet remains completely dry. The surrounding water cascades endlessly over the edges of a magically formed depression, created by a mage. The house is invisible when submerged and only reveals itself when it rises above the surface, existing in a liminal state between concealment and revelation.
   
   

2. The Ocean Lighthouse Hotel

   A six-story lighthouse stands alone in the middle of the ocean, doubling as a hotel for passing travelers. The roof is inspired by the curved silhouette of a mage’s hat, crowned with a glowing beacon at its tip. In a world illuminated by four moons, this light becomes essential guidance when the moons disappear from the sky, leading ships safely through darkness.
   
   

3. The Elfae Hanging Home

   Inspired by a suspended birdcage, this compact house is crafted by tiny Elfae and Unseelie beings. Its organic structure blooms from a living flower, exposing natural roots and growth patterns. However, the inclusion of bricks and a formal doorway subtly reflects their complicated relationship with nature—both harmonious and destructive.

   
   

4. The Gravitational Fracture House

   At first glance, this house appears upside down—and in many ways, it is. Built within a gravitational fracture, different sections obey different gravitational pulls. The large circular roof forms the base, while verandas and smaller architectural details orient themselves in opposing directions. Massive chains anchor the structure to prevent it from drifting upward into the sky.

   
   

5. The Cliff-Bridge Settlement

   Inspired by the historic buildings along Old London Bridge and elements of Tower Bridge, this structure connects two cliffs with an arched roof that functions as a public marketplace and walkway. Beneath the arch lie residential units, while guard towers with eastern-style roofs stand where the bridge meets the cliffs. The design explores density, vertical living, and the blending of commerce with community.
